How to use automations to promote a pre-recorded workshop to your list

Have you ever hosted a webinar? How about a video workshop? If so, that pre-recorded content is the perfect thing to sell as your next product!

After all, you don’t want to keep valuable content from your audience if it already exists. Selling your workshop takes no extra work on your end, and your audience will get tremendous value from it. A win-win!

If you don’t have a workshop ready to go, all it takes is 30-60 minutes to record a video that will help your audience with one of their pain points.

Then using ConvertKit Commerce and visual automations, you can sell your pre-recorded workshop to your subscribers on autopilot - without any other integrations or payment processors! We’ve got it all covered for you within the same platform.

Today, we’re sharing our best tips for selling a workshop using ConvertKit Commerce and how you can set up a visual automation that promotes your product while you sleep.

Setting up your product

Let’s start by using ConvertKit Commerce to sell your workshop. Here’s our step-by-step guide to creating your product.

If you want to sell the workshop as a downloadable file (for example, an mp4 file), you’ll want to select ‘A Digital Download’ under product fulfillment.

You could also share the workshop as a link to an unlisted YouTube video. The best way to do this is to choose ‘Something Else’ under product fulfillment and then include a link to your video on the product Confirmation page.

When it comes to your sales page, you can mention what’s covered in the class, as well and how it will help your audience.

Setting up a visual automation

Once your product is created, let’s set up a simple visual automation that will get you sales while you sleep.

Step 1: Create a freebie/lead magnet

A freebie is the best way to get people to subscribe to your email list - this will come in handy for selling your workshop later!

What kind of freebie should you create? One that relates directly to your workshop. For example, you could take a chunk of the content from your workshop and turn it into a PDF or a 3-day challenge.

In your visual automation, start with a landing page that will deliver the freebie automatically after someone signs up.

Step 2: Send a welcome series

Once someone’s subscribed to your email list, you’ll want to welcome them and tell them what you’re all about. Over the course of a few days, you can continue to email them with more content to help them get to know, like, and trust you.

In your visual automation, use a sequence of 2-3 emails that teaches your subscribers something new and provides them with a ton of value.

Step 3: Pitch your workshop

In your final email, pitch our workshop product. You can include how this workshop will benefit purchasers, testimonials (if available), and offer a chance to ask any questions they may have about the workshop.

To add your product link to your email, you can use a button and add the URL to your product sales page like so:

Step 4: Send a thank you email

As a final step, you can send a thank you email to anyone who has purchased the workshop. This is a great place to include any instructions for watching the video, as well as how they can get the most out of the workshop.

In your automation, you can add a product node (Event > Product purchased > Commerce) so that only those who purchase the product will get a thank you email.

There you have it! The simplest way to make money is to use something you’ve already created, so start selling your pre-recorded workshop today!
