I came across this article today by Jeff Goins, and wanted to share it with all of you.
In it, he covers three types of creators, and the organizational paths available to each. It's a short read, but also includes some thought-provoking points.
When it comes to assessments like this, I recommend being honest with yourself about who you already are, not who you’d like to be.
So, what kind of creator are you?

Hmmm, I feel like I am elements of all of the three! I am definitely prolific like the first one, but also I build in my opinion on things that I do, but I definitely relate to that, make the next thing instead of promoting the current one of the artist!
I too am a company of one but have an LLC to keep my finances separate and protected as well.
I definitely think there are aspects of all three that creators can and do move between. It can be interesting to put a frame of reference around an idea of the differing types and how you might relate to each!
Mostly a creator, but I formed an LLC to help keep my business finances separate from my personal ones. I suspect I'm "doing it wrong" but it works for me. "Works for me" is my new motto, I think.
I'm also a teacher. That was my actual job for a time. I get jazzed by helping people learn new things. It's not how I roll in terms of monetization, but I have to acknowledge that piece of me that needs to teach.
I think you can definitely be a creator who has an LLC. It's smart! In fact, protecting and separating assets is one way to ensure long-term sustainability for anyone who wants to earn a living from their creative endeavors.
I would say that we all get to benefit quite a bit from the part of you who loves to teach!
