Hi, Is there a way to send automations to people only when they sign up to my list for the first time? in other words, if they have already been through another automation with me, I don't want them getting the welcome sequence--your thoughts/ answers would be helpful. Thanks!

Hey @Nadia Colburn43!

First, please note that we'll never send the same sequence email(s) to the same subscriber more than once. So if your subscribers have already received your welcome sequence and you're worried about them receiving the same emails from it again, you don't have to worry about that!

But if you're wanting to set up a welcome sequence now, and exclude certain subscribers from ever receiving it, this can be achieved with the exclusions feature! From the sequence settings page, you can select group(s) of subscribers to exclude from an entire sequence even if they get added to it (it won't prevent them being 'added' to it, but it'll prevent them receiving any emails from it).

The best way to set up those exclusions will be up to you. If you just want to exclude a certain tag from receiving the sequence, for example, you can just select that tag (or multiple tags) as exclusions. Utilizing that exclusion feature in some way will likely be your best bet. You can also create a segment62 and then exclude that entire segment! Segments are very flexible with their criteria so that might be a good option. (For a guide on setting up segments, check out the video titled 'Tags & Segments' in our Lunch & Learn Video Series73!)

I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions :)
