Split testing is as the name sounds, you’re testing something with split versions. Usually this will be the control or the original against something you’ve changed like the color scheme or the headline. It’s also called A/B testing and it’s powerful to help boost your conversions as you never really know what you‘re Going to get until you get your results.
An easy way to get started is with CKs built in A/B subject line split test. You can input 2 different subject lines for a broadcast and it will send 1 to a small portion and the other to another small portion. After a period of time the one who gets the most opens/clicks wins and the rest of the list is sent the winning headline.
Generally split testing is a good habit to get into, but I’d also not really worry about it in the early stages (at least not doing small tweaks) because its better to have things done and up than waste Time on perfectionism. You can always go back later and try new things, especially if you’re doing a revamp. That tends to happen A lot, we‘re doing a revamp of our website and membership area now and changing everything.
